A Sweet 4th!

There are so many fun things about the 4th of July.  A few of our staple "4th" activities involve swimming, fireworks, good food and drinks, remembering all those who have served America and are serving... and especially great friends.  If you're looking for some good last minute recipes for today I wanted to add a few links.  We will be spicing them up with our sweet honey, I'll be sure and add how we'll do that!

East Hill Honey is set up at the corner of Cervantes and Alcaniz for any last minute needed hostess gifts or honey you might need for recipes.  Sweet Ellen will be there to help!  10% off to all military!

A few fun recipes:

NY Cheesecake: http://smittenkitchen.com/blog/2010/04/new-york-cheesecake/  This recipe is delicious.  We won't be adding the cherries but will be cutting up fresh strawberries and mixing it with our honey and pecans for a delicious topping.  Decorate the side of your serving dish with some blueberries and the red, white and blue fervor will all be present.

Watermelon- Honey Salad: Cut up watermelon, chop up a handful of mint leaves, add some fresh blueberries with some chopped up honey pecans or just drizzle some Tupelo honey on top for a beautiful and festive salad.

Watermelon-Honey Lemonade: http://www.oprah.com/food/Watermelon-Lemonade   ...Delicious! Serve in a mason jar with floating blueberries and enjoy!

Patriotic Sangria:

1 bottle of white wine like Pinot

1/4 cup of honey like orange blossom

1 cup peach brandy

1 pint of blueberries

Handful of cut up strawberries.

Directions: Take 1 cup of the wine and warm over medium to low heat with the honey in a saucepan on your stove.  Meanwhile, with the exception of the fruit, mix all the other ingredients into a pitcher.  Check the wine and honey mixture, once honey is dissolved into the wine add to the rest of the ingredients.  Stir, chill, add fruit just before serving and enjoy!

Have a fun day!
